Free upgrade from a subscription license

Free upgrade is available for subscription licenses as long as the license is active:

You do not need to request an upgrade license, simply download the latest build; the product will be upgraded by installing the new build.

Free upgrade from a 1-time purchase license

Acronis True Image has a standard 30 day before the new version release free upgrade policy. This means, you are eligible for free upgrade to Acronis True Image 2020 if you purchased Acronis True Image 2019 online or activated a boxed version after July 21, 2019.

1. Navigate to Acronis True Image 2020 Upgrade Page.
2. Select upgrade for 1, 3 or 5 computers.
3. Purchase your upgrade(s).

Upgrade procedure

If your current version of Acronis True Image is Acronis True Image 2019 or Acronis True Image 2018, the new version will simply update it; there is no need to remove the old version and reinstall the software. If your current version is older, we recommend that you remove the current version, first.

On a Windows computer

1. Download the installation file from your account.
2. Run the installation file.
3. Click Update:
   
4. Wait until the installation completes.
   Now you can use the new Acronis True Image 2020. All previous settings and backups are kept; you do not need to recreate backup plans and archives.

On a Mac

1. Download the installation file from your account.
2. Double-click the installation file.
3. Drag the Acronis True Image 2020 icon to the Applications folder:
   
4. Wait until the installation completes.
   Now you can use the new Acronis True Image 2020. All previous settings and backups are kept; you do not need to recreate backup plans and archives.

I cannot seem to find a way to obtain the Acronis 2021 upgrade. I purchased a 3/3TB Premium license on 8/4/2020, and I have used the software successfully to create many backups. Surprisingly, when I try to use the free upgrade page, my serial number is not recognized. I see an error message, 'The specified serial number is invalid. Please check that you typed or copied it correctly.'

Before submitting a support ticket and escalating this issue, I thought I would try bringing it up in the forum to see if anyone could offer a helpful suggestion.

Acronis True Image Home 2021 Upgrade

You may have a voucher code that was given out last year when the sever was resetting backup settings; beta testers also got a voucher code (expires 31/08/20).

I'm afraid I will not be upgrading to 2021.. Annual licences suck especially if the version that you get upgraded to is not fulfilling the requirements you need.. it has now become overly expensive for a home backup solution to be honest and I can get the results I want from free software included with my NAS. Sorry Acronis after being a customer since Acronis 10 I'm outta here...

Darren, you can still buy the perpetual version but Acronis are making it less obvious in their attempts to divert users to subscription usage. I will always stick with perpetual myself and only have a subscription by virtue of being an MVP. If perpetual is taken away then that will be the end of a long relationship for myself and a lot of other users!

Personally, I can see zero reasons why anyone would even consider the Essential subscription version with no Cloud and an unwanted 3 month trial of antivirus features, which then has to be renewed year on year to keep the core features that are yours forever with a perpetual license!

I agree with the fact that ATI is far too expensive compared to other similar software. ATI 2021 is for me personally the last version I bought, mainly because of all the useless and unnecessary additions such as anti virus protection. For example, Acronis could take a look at EaseUS with its lifetime licenses, buy it once (at a slightly higher purchase price) but otherwise all subsequent upgrades are FREE.
